'WRAP UP AND RUN!'

Age UK Devon is urging local business and individuals to put their 'best feet forward' and enter Exeter's own 10k 'Wrap Up and Run'.  The run will take place on Sunday 25th March 2012, along the fast towpaths of the River Exe and through the town centre itself.

Age UK Devon partner, Stones Solicitors LLP, is leading the way and entering a team of twelve solicitors to raise vital funds to help older people across the county this winter.  Age UK Devon have named their own running team the 'Age UK Devon Drecklies' - and are hoping that they will get to the finishing line dreckly!

The funds will be used to provide a 'Winter Warmth' service for older people across the county.  This will include a home-visiting service for vulnerable older people, and an 'advice and comfort line' for anyone wanting to know how to keep warm and well in winter - and receive hands-on support with claiming their benefits entitlements.

The 'Wrap Up and Run' is an important fundraising campaign for Age UK Devon.  Almost 3000 people will die this winter because they cannot afford to heat their homes - more than the number of people killed in traffic accidents.

It costs £14.95 per person to enter.  You can find out more by clicking here or by calling Rachel from Age UK Devon on 0845 2967810.  Please don't forget to choose Age UK Devon as your beneficiary charity when you enter.

Adrian Richards, Chief Operating Officer at Stones said, "With an increasingly ageing population, it is important to support the work of Age UK Devon.  We are delighted to be supporting this excellent event and we hope as many businesses in and around the city will pitch in with a team."

TRUSTEE RECRUITMENT

We wish to strengthen our Trustee board by recruiting two new members.  We would particularly like to appoint people with experience of working with or caring for older people.  Can you help us shape our organisation to better meet the needs of people in later life living in Devon?

The Board meets one morning (usually 2 hours) once a month.  A full induction process and training is available.  This is a voluntary role however, out of pocket expenses are paid.

For more information regarding this voluntary role, please telephone 0845 296 7810.
